Avala Tower rises 204.5 metres above Avala mountain on the southern edge of Belgrade, Serbia, in the Voždovac municipality. The telecommunications and observation tower was rebuilt after the original structure was destroyed in 1999, and its platform gives one of the widest panoramas in the area.

The 204.5 m tower platform gives a wide panorama of the Šumadija hills and, on clear days, the city skyline.

To the south and east the view takes in the forested hills of Šumadija rolling to the horizon, while to the north on clear days the skyline of Belgrade and the plain beyond are visible. The frame is a wide landscape, usually shot from the observation level, with the layered ridges receding into haze. Late afternoon provides warm side-light that models the hills, while clear mornings after rain bring the best visibility and crisp distant detail; haze during summer heat can flatten the view, so cooler months from April to October with stable weather are most reliable. The tower itself can also be photographed from the surrounding woodland and from the nearby Monument to the Unknown Hero, which stands on the mountain and offers different compositions of stone and forest. The platform has limited space and can be crowded on weekends and holidays, as families and groups visit the mountain; a tripod is difficult on a busy platform and may be restricted, so the railing and glass are the main shooting positions. Reflections on glass can be reduced with a lens hood pressed to the surface and a polariser. An entrance ticket is required for the tower, and prices and opening hours should be checked locally. Drone flights near the tower are not advisable, as the structure and the surrounding airspace are regulated. The mountain has cafes and picnic areas with toilets and water, and the drive from central Belgrade takes about 30 to 40 minutes.
