Masjid al-Qiblatayn was rebuilt in 1987 by Abdel-Wahed El-Wakil with twin domes and twin minarets in a symmetrical composition. It is open 24 hours since a royal directive of October 2025. The exterior is best photographed in early morning light with the domes set against a clear sky. Inside the mosque, visitors should ask staff before photographing and avoid including worshippers. The mosque has a small replica mihrab marking the earlier Jerusalem direction.
