Mandarin Oriental Doha

The Mandarin Oriental Doha opened in 2016 as the anchor hotel of the Msheireb Downtown Doha project, the QAR 20 billion mixed-use regeneration of the historic city centre initiated by Msheireb Properties. The property stands on Al Wajba Street, steps from the Msheireb Museums — four restored heritage houses interpreting Qatari social history — and approximately one kilometre from Souq Waqif. Msheireb Metro station is a three-minute walk from the hotel entrance. Hamad International Airport is 20 kilometres away by road.

The hotel's 249 rooms and suites occupy a low-rise building of warm sandstone and latticed screen facades designed by architecture practice Allies and Morrison, who drew directly from traditional Qatari building techniques. The language of the mashrabiya screen — traditionally used to modulate light and ensure privacy — is carried through from the building exterior into the corridors and room dividers inside. Rooms average 55 square metres; suites reach up to 340 square metres in the Presidential category. All units feature handmade Qatari textiles, locally commissioned artwork, and Diptyque bath amenities as standard.

Two rooftop pools occupy different levels of the building — one adults-only and one family-accessible — both overlooking the Msheireb quarter's restored roofline. Nine dining and drinking venues make this the widest culinary offering of any Mandarin Oriental in the region: anchors include the Mosaic restaurant for all-day dining, the Qatari heritage-inspired SORA, the Kiku Japanese restaurant, and the spa café. The spa encompasses 2,100 square metres with 12 treatment rooms and a Turkish hammam. The hotel also provides direct access to the Msheireb underground parking network, a convenience unique among Doha's city-centre properties.
