Porto Fado Dinner Experience

Casa da Mariquinhas has hosted fado dinners in a traditional house near Porto's Sé cathedral for many years, combining a set dinner with live performances in the same room rather than a separate concert venue. The evening runs about three hours across a three-course dinner of traditional Portuguese dishes, house wine, and a live set from fado musicians and a vocalist performing between and during courses. The savoury courses draw on classic northern Portuguese cooking, with the musical performance rather than a dessert course forming the centrepiece of the later part of the evening. The price covers the three-course dinner, house wine, and the live fado performance; it does not include premium wine upgrades, transport to the venue on Rua de São Nicolau, or a private table away from other diners, as seating is typically shared among small tables in the same room as the performers. Fado nights are concentrated on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, so the schedule should be checked before booking other days. The venue is an older Porto house with some steps at the entrance and between dining levels, and dietary substitutions for the set menu can generally be requested when booking, though the dinner is built around a fixed traditional menu rather than an à la carte selection.
