Mercado do Bolhão & Cedofeita Morning Walk

Porto Walkers has operated small-group walking tours in the city for close to a decade, and the Bolhão and Cedofeita morning walk is built around the recently restored Mercado do Bolhão, one of Porto's oldest municipal markets. The route starts at the market entrance on Rua Formosa and continues into the neighbouring Cedofeita district, covering roughly 2.5 hours and five stops. Inside the market, the guide leads a tasting of local cheese and presunto (cured ham), followed by a sample of regional wine, artisan bread, and a small olive oil tasting as the walk moves into Cedofeita's shops and side streets. The tastings favour savoury market produce over sweets, reflecting the market's role as a working food market rather than a dessert-focused stop. The ticket price covers all listed tastings and the guide's commentary on the market's history and Porto's food culture; it does not include a sit-down meal, additional wine beyond the sample poured, or purchases made independently at market stalls. Groups are kept small and tours run in English, with a relaxed pace suited to browsing stalls between tastings. Vegetarian substitutions for the presunto tasting can typically be arranged if requested when booking. Because Mercado do Bolhão closes on Sundays, this tour does not run that day, and stall selection can vary slightly by day of the week.
