Cash in Pakistani rupees is the only practical payment method, as card machines are essentially absent from the market's stalls. There is no tax-refund scheme available. The atmosphere is loud, crowded, and functional rather than picturesque, with narrow lanes, overhead awnings, and a constant flow of hand-carts moving goods between wholesale suppliers and retail stalls. Food options are limited to small snack stalls and roadside vendors rather than sit-down restaurants. The market's cloth lanes, concentrated in the older core near Main Boulevard, and the footwear and household-goods sections toward the market's edges are its main draws. Because Ichhra functions as a working neighbourhood market rather than a curated attraction, most visitors are local residents doing everyday shopping, and the experience can feel considerably more chaotic and less tourist-friendly than Lahore's more polished retail districts.
