  • Extreme heat in plains from May-August — hike early morning and carry ample water
  • Limited mobile coverage in remote northern valleys — carry satellite phone on multi-day treks
  • Bears (Himalayan brown bear) active on Deosai Plateau — make noise and avoid surprising wildlife
  • Military checkpoints require NOC (No Objection Certificate) permits for certain restricted zones near borders
