Best Bars

Top spots for drinks and socializing.

Bar

The Busy Bee Cafe

NPR 250-500 per drink

Pokhara's longest-running and most beloved bar, a warm, low-lit Lakeside institution that has served trekkers for decades. Live music most evenings (acoustic or folk), an excellent cocktail menu, cold local beer, and the kind of atmosphere that draws people back night after night. The owner and long-term staff know many regulars by name.

Bar

Or2K Bar (Rooftop)

NPR 400-700 per cocktail

The rooftop bar at Or2K restaurant on Lakeside Road provides one of the best sunset spots in Pokhara, with views over Phewa Lake as the sky turns pink and orange behind the Annapurna foothills. The cocktail menu is the best in Lakeside - the mojito is particularly good.

Bar

Caffe Concerto Bar

NPR 600-1,200 per glass wine/cocktail

The bar at Caffe Concerto is the most sophisticated drinks experience in central Pokhara. An excellent selection of Italian wines, imported spirits, and expertly made cocktails. More expensive than typical Lakeside bars but the lakeside terrace and quality make it worth it for a special evening.

Bar

Monsoon Lounge

NPR 250-450 per drink

A popular evening bar with a pool table, dart boards, and an outdoor terrace. A reliable option for groups wanting a social evening with games. Plays Western and Nepali pop music. Regular happy hour promotions.

Bar

Temple Tree Resort Bar

NPR 600-1,500 per drink

The pool bar at Temple Tree Resort, open to hotel guests and outside visitors. Set in the tropical garden beside the pool, it offers the most elegant evening drinks experience in the Damside area. Serves cocktails, imported spirits, and a small bites menu.

Nightlife Tips & Safety

Stay safe and make the most of your evenings.

💡

Most bars in Lakeside close by midnight - Pokhara is an early-to-bed, early-to-rise city given the trekking culture

💡

Lakeside is safe to walk at night but keep valuables secure and stay on lit main streets

💡

Nepali people rarely drink alcohol publicly - bars are primarily tourist spaces

💡

Drink responsibly before trekking days - altitude and dehydration compound the effects of alcohol

💡

Happy hour (typically 5-7pm) offers 30-50% off drinks at most Lakeside bars

💡

Street food momos and snacks from night vendors (8-11pm) in Lakeside are a good late-night eating option

Safety Reminders

  • Never accept drinks from strangers
  • Keep your phone charged and have emergency contacts saved
  • Tell someone where you're going
  • Be cautious in unfamiliar areas late at night
  • Respect local customs and dress codes
