Nagarkot Farmhouse Resort

Nagarkot Farmhouse Resort occupies a gently sloping hillside site below the Nagarkot ridge in Bhaktapur District, approximately 32 km east of Kathmandu. The property sits at around 1,900 m elevation, well below the ridge viewpoint at 2,175 m, which means the resort is screened from road noise and tourist crowds while retaining excellent early-morning views of the central Himalayan chain — including Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Dorje Lakpa, and on exceptionally clear winter days, the distant outline of Everest. The resort's design is deliberately low-impact: stone and wood construction, pitched slate roofs, and vegetable terraces that supply the kitchen. Rooms are divided into standard cottages and deluxe cottage suites, each furnished simply with locally woven textiles, wood-framed beds, and private bathrooms with hot water. Insulation is modest so guests staying in the cooler months (November through February) should bring layers. The restaurant operates on a farm-to-table principle, drawing vegetables, eggs, and seasonal fruit from the property's own organic plots; the kitchen also produces excellent fresh bread daily. Guided sunrise hikes to the ridge viewpoint depart each morning at around 05:30 and are included in the room rate. Birdwatching is exceptional from March to May when resident and migratory species are most active; the resort can arrange birding walks with a local naturalist. The pace here is slow and intentional — there is no spa, no poolside bar — making this a genuine retreat choice rather than a conventional hotel.
