Marrakech's nightlife splits between the atmospheric rooftop bars scattered across the Medina, offering sunset views over the souks and the Koutoubia, and the more polished club and lounge scene concentrated in Hivernage and Gueliz. Public drinking culture is more restrained than in European cities: alcohol is sold only inside licensed hotels, restaurants, bars and select supermarkets, never in the Medina souks themselves, and the loudest late-night venues cluster outside the historic walls.
