Puente Solidaridad Cable-Stayed Bridge

The Puente Solidaridad is a cable-stayed bridge crossing the Rio Grijalva just north of the Zona Luz malecon in downtown Villahermosa, capital of Tabasco, its single tall pylon and fanned steel cables lit after dark in slowly changing colours that reflect on the water below. The riverside walkways on either bank give a clean side-on profile of the cable fan against the night sky, best worked with a wide-angle for the full structure or a telephoto to compress the cables into a tighter graphic pattern; a tripod and remote shutter release are essential for the long exposures needed to capture both the lit structure and its river reflection without camera shake. The lighting typically activates shortly after sunset and runs through the evening, making the window from about 19:00 to 21:00 the most reliable for a fully dark sky with active illumination. The dry season from November to April tends to bring calmer river conditions and clearer reflections, while the rainy season from June to October can raise the river and add current that breaks up the reflection somewhat. Both riverbanks are public and free to access at all hours, and while the malecon side draws evening foot traffic, the walkways are generally wide enough that a tripod does not obstruct passersby; the opposite bank is quieter and gives an alternative angle with less pedestrian activity.
