Malecón Kino

Malecón Kino is the waterfront promenade running along the Old Port of Puerto Peñasco, lined with seafood restaurants, souvenir stalls, and a fishing fleet that still operates out of the adjacent harbor. The boardwalk gives direct views over the Sea of Cortez toward Cholla Bay and the port breakwater, and it functions as the social center of Puerto Peñasco's original downtown, distinct from the newer resort strip further along the coast. A one to two hour visit allows time to walk the length of the malecón, browse the vendor stalls selling shell crafts and blown glass, and stop for fresh shrimp or fish tacos at one of the palapa-roofed restaurants facing the water. Sunset is the standout time to visit, when the fishing boats return to harbor, vendors are at their busiest, and the light over the Sea of Cortez turns the water gold and pink; this is also when the promenade is most crowded with both visitors and locals. Weekday mornings offer a quieter, more workaday view of the port, with fishermen unloading catch and fewer tourists. The malecón sits within walking distance of downtown Puerto Peñasco's shops and the Mirador viewpoint, making it easy to combine with a broader stroll through the Old Port neighborhood.
