Excellence Playa Mujeres

Excellence Playa Mujeres is an adults-only, all-inclusive resort in the Playa Mujeres development, north of Cancun on the Costa Mujeres coast of Quintana Roo, Mexico. The resort is roughly 25 to 30 minutes by road from downtown Cancun and a comparable drive from Cancun International Airport, and it is the area from which boats and ferries cross to Isla Mujeres in a short hop. Because the property lies outside the Hotel Zone, visitors are in a self-contained resort district with a marina, golf course and a handful of other large hotels, and most meals and activities stay on site. The beach here faces the calmer northern Caribbean waters and is generally gentler than the open-sea stretches of the Hotel Zone, though seasonal seaweed can still appear. Accommodation is built around Junior Suites, Swim-Up Suites and Excellence Club Suites, the last offering a higher service tier with private lounge access and upgraded food and drink. The look is contemporary Mexican resort design, with large terraces and extensive pool areas. Dining runs through a set of a la carte restaurants with international, Mexican and Asian-inspired menus, plus a main buffet at breakfast, and the all-inclusive plan covers meals, drinks and many activities. Service character is romantic and relaxed, focused on couples, honeymooners and adult friends travelling together, with a concierge team that can arrange tours to Isla Mujeres, Chichen Itza and Mayan sites. Rates range from roughly MXN 6,650 to 15,750, about USD 380 to 900 per night, depending on suite type and season. Visitors should plan transfers in advance, since leaving the resort requires a taxi or booked shuttle and fares to downtown are noticeably higher than from the Hotel Zone.
