Africam Safari

Africam Safari sits on the shore of the Valsequillo reservoir about 18 km southeast of Puebla City, a 30-40 minute drive by taxi, Uber, or rental car; no direct public bus serves the park, so most visitors arrive by car or a booked tour. The park combines a drive-through safari section, where visitors travel through open enclosures housing giraffes, rhinos, zebras, and big cats in a private vehicle or on a guided tram, with a walking area featuring aviaries, a reptile house, and closer animal encounters. A morning arrival is recommended both to avoid the midday heat and to catch the animals more active before the day warms; the drive-through section typically takes 1.5-2 hours to complete at a relaxed pace, leaving the early afternoon free for the walking zoo area and scheduled feeding demonstrations. Food stands and a sit-down restaurant inside the park serve standard Mexican fare -- tacos, tortas, and grilled meats -- along with snack kiosks near the main entrance. Africam Safari is open year-round, and its lakeside setting keeps conditions relatively mild, though a morning visit avoids both the heat and the larger crowds that build by early afternoon on weekends. Renting a car for the drive-through is required if arriving without one already, since the park does not permit walking through the safari section; rental vehicles are available at a kiosk near the entrance for visitors without their own car.
