Puente Colgante de Zoquiapan

The Puente Colgante de Zoquiapan is a pedestrian hanging bridge in the Zoquiapan neighborhood outside Cuetzalan, strung across a deep, forested canyon typical of the Sierra Norte de Puebla's cloud-forest terrain. The bridge itself takes only a few minutes to cross, but the surrounding canyon views, with dense vegetation dropping away on either side and, on clear days, distant hills visible through the mist, make it worth combining with a short walk along the approach trails on either bank. A visit typically takes 30 to 45 minutes, including time to walk partway down access paths for different vantage points. The best photo angle is from partway across the bridge itself, capturing the suspension cables in the foreground against the canyon drop, though the bridge sways gently underfoot, which some visitors find part of the appeal and others find unsettling. Midday tends to offer the clearest visibility, since morning fog is common in this cloud-forest microclimate and can obscure the canyon views until it burns off. The site remains a community-maintained crossing rather than a formal tourist facility, so amenities are minimal, and visitors should arrange transport in advance since public transit does not reach the bridge directly. It pairs well with a visit to nearby waterfalls or the Grutas de Atepolihui on the same day trip out from central Cuetzalan, since all are within a similar radius of town.
