Africam Safari

Africam Safari, located beside the Valsequillo reservoir southeast of Puebla, is a drive-through wildlife park where visitors travel the roughly 5-kilometer safari circuit in their own vehicle, a rental car, or the park's tour bus, passing free-roaming giraffes, rhinos, zebras, and big cats separated from the road only by the natural terrain. The park also includes a walking section near the entrance with aviaries, a reptile house, and closer viewing areas for primates and smaller species. A full visit takes 3 to 4 hours, including the driving circuit, a stop at the walking zone, and time for food or souvenirs near the entrance plaza. Visitors without their own vehicle can join the park's guided bus tour, which includes narration about the animals and their conservation status. The best wildlife activity, and the best photo opportunities of animals up close to vehicles, occurs in the morning shortly after opening, when temperatures are cooler and animals are more active; by early afternoon, many animals retreat to shade and become harder to spot. Weekends and Mexican school holiday periods bring significantly larger crowds and longer waits at the entrance gate, while weekday visits move through the circuit with far less traffic. Feeding areas near the giraffe and elephant enclosures let visitors purchase food to hand-feed some species under staff supervision. Because the safari circuit requires a vehicle, visitors without a car should plan to arrive via organized tour or rent one for the day, as public transport does not reach the park directly.
