Tatita Mezcalería

Tatita Mezcalería is a smaller, later-running sibling to Tata Mezcalería, set in a converted old house a few blocks northeast of Morelia cathedral in Michoacán. The rooms are dim and low-ceilinged, which suits the crowd — mostly local mezcal enthusiasts and couples in their late twenties and up, dressed casually, with conversation rather than dancing as the focus. There is no live band or DJ; recorded music stays low in the background. The drinks programme runs deep on small-batch mezcal flights and gives proper billing to charanda, Michoacán's own sugarcane spirit, which is harder to find elsewhere in the centro. Opening hours are evenings only, typically from 6PM, with the room closing around midnight on weeknights and stretching to about 1AM on Friday and Saturday. There is no cover charge and no formal reservation system in place; the venue works as a walk-in bar, though its small size means it can fill quickly, especially later at night on weekends. Bottle service is not offered — drinks are ordered by the glass or as tasting flights. The pace favours a slower, later start to the evening rather than an early one, and it pairs naturally as a second or third stop after dinner elsewhere in the centro.
