Because the terrace faces southwest, it catches direct sunset light on its own walls while offering a clean sightline over the rooftops of the historic centre, making it the strongest elevated position in the area for a golden-hour cityscape; a 70-200mm telephoto compresses the rooftops effectively, while a wide-angle suits the courtyard itself. The fort houses a small museum of ships and historic weapons and keeps the same INAH schedule and price band as Fuerte de San Miguel: Tuesday to Sunday, 08:00 to 17:00, about 80 MXN (approx USD 5) for nationals and residents and about 145 MXN (approx USD 9) for foreign visitors, with free Sunday entry for nationals and residents. November through March delivers the clearest air for the long-distance rooftop view; humidity haze in the rainy season from June to September can soften the compression shot. The site draws far fewer visitors than San Miguel, so tripod positions on the terrace are almost always available even close to closing time, and there are no drone restrictions specific to the fort beyond the general historic-zone prohibition.
