Esperanza Resort Los Cabos

Esperanza, an Auberge Resort, is sited on a volcanic cliffside above a sheltered Pacific cove at Km 3.5 on the Carretera Transpeninsular, roughly 3.5 km from downtown Cabo San Lucas. The property faces the open Pacific rather than the calmer Sea of Cortez, giving it a distinctly different character from corridor resorts: rugged coastal scenery, natural rock formations, and the persistent sound of the Pacific breaking against the cliffs below. Access to the private beach is by funicular, a three-minute descent that underscores the elevation difference between the clifftop facilities and the shoreline.

Originally opened in 2002 and extensively renovated in subsequent years, the resort comprises 57 casitas arranged along the cliffside. The architectural language is hacienda-influenced, with low-slung terracotta-roofed structures, rough-hewn stone walls, and oversized wooden doors throughout. All casitas have Pacific Ocean views; top-category residences include private plunge pools and outdoor showers. Butler service is offered across the full range of accommodation categories.

The award-winning spa is set within an open-air garden environment and incorporates ingredients sourced from Baja's landscape: sea kelp, damiana herb, and locally harvested honey are central to its signature treatments. Two pools occupy the clifftop: a main infinity pool and a smaller adults-only pool. A yoga deck with uninterrupted Pacific views operates on a daily schedule, and the fitness facilities are compact but well-equipped.

Dining is split between Cocina del Mar, the signature oceanfront restaurant serving locally focused Baja cuisine with emphasis on freshly caught seafood, and more casual poolside options. The kitchen works closely with local fishermen and Baja producers; tuna and yellowtail preparations are consistently cited as standouts. The wine programme emphasises Baja and Mexican labels alongside international selections.
