Ashiwada Lakeside Cottage & Campsite, Lake Kawaguchiko

The Kawaguchiko Lakeside Cottage at Ashiwada, on the lake's less-developed western shore, is one of the few spots on Kawaguchiko where casual water play is genuinely built into the site rather than discouraged by a steep, undeveloped shoreline. The campground and cottage complex sits directly on the water, with a small private shoreline area where guests can wade, launch a canoe or stand-up paddleboard, or simply cool off after a day of sightseeing, distinguishing it from Kawaguchiko's more scenic-only shoreline parks. Accommodation ranges from simple cottages with basic kitchen facilities to open tent-camping sites, and shared restroom and shower blocks serve both. Because the site sits on Kawaguchiko's quieter western side, away from the dense hotel and ropeway area on the north and east shores, it offers a noticeably calmer, more nature-focused base, popular with families and canoe or SUP rental customers rather than day-trippers. Reservations are recommended in summer, particularly around Obon week in mid-August when camping demand across the Fuji Five Lakes peaks.
