Yamagata Prefecture grows the large majority of Japan's cherries, and this roadside station is one of the most concentrated places to see that industry represented in one shop, selling fresh cherries in season (June to July) alongside year-round processed goods such as cherry financiers, chocolates, jellies, and cherry sake. Because the stock is sourced directly from regional orchards and local food producers, the goods are authentically local rather than generic tourist souvenirs, though the shop does carry some general Yamagata omiyage (souvenir) items alongside its cherry-focused core.
