Dewazakura Sake Brewery Tasting Room

Dewazakura Sake Brewery in Tendo City is one of Yamagata Prefecture's most internationally recognized sake producers, known for elegant ginjo-style sakes that helped popularize the fragrant ginjo category abroad. Located a 15-minute walk from JR Tendo Station, the brewery offers an intimate small-group tour through its production facility followed by a tutored tasting of five sakes, guided by staff who explain the brewing process, rice polishing ratios and the distinctions between the ginjo, junmai ginjo and seasonal limited-release labels sampled. The tasting takes place in a simple, functional space attached to the brewery rather than a dedicated hospitality lounge, keeping the focus on the sake and the production process itself. There is no separate food menu; the visit is a tour-and-tasting experience rather than a dining one. Because tours run on a set weekday schedule and in small groups, reservations are required in advance, and the brewery is closed on national holidays.
