Amaharashi Coast Cycling Route

The Amaharashi Coast Cycling Route follows roughly 40 kilometers round trip of flat coastal roads between Takaoka and Himi along Toyama Bay, passing the Amaharashi shoreline, fishing harbors, and stretches with open views toward the Tateyama mountains across the bay on clear days. The route requires no technical cycling skill and little sustained climbing, making it accessible to casual riders and families, though the full round trip distance calls for basic fitness and stamina over a full day; shorter out-and-back sections are easy to arrange for less experienced riders. Rental bicycles, including standard and electric models, are available from the Takaoka Tourism Association's rental cycle points near Amaharashi Station and from the Himi City Fisheries Cultural Exchange Center at the Himi end of the route; helmets are available on request but not automatically issued. This is a self-guided route along public roads and cycling paths rather than a guided tour, so no operator briefing or rescue plan applies beyond standard road safety and the rental shops' bicycle condition checks. Riders bring their own water and sun protection, since services are spaced out along the coastal stretch. The route is rideable March through November, with April–May and October–November offering the most comfortable temperatures; midsummer riding is possible but hot and humid along the exposed coastal sections, and winter is not recommended due to cold coastal winds and occasional snow.
