Nijisseiki Pear Museum Shop (Nashikkokan)

The Nijisseiki Pear Museum, known locally as Nashikkokan, is dedicated to Tottori Prefecture's signature Nijisseiki, or '20th Century,' pear, a pale-skinned, crisp variety first cultivated commercially in the region and now closely associated with Tottori nationally. The museum's shop is the most reliable place in the prefecture to buy pear-themed products outside the short pear-picking season itself, since it stocks preserved and processed pear goods year-round: pear jelly, pear cake and other baked sweets, pear juice, pear jam, and pear-blended tea, along with novelty items tied to the museum's Nashi Pear mascot. Because the shop's stock is processed and shelf-stable rather than fresh fruit, visitors outside the August-to-November harvest window can still bring home a genuine Tottori pear product rather than leaving empty-handed. The museum itself includes exhibits on the pear's cultivation history and a tasting counter offering seasonal fresh pear when in stock. Prices are fixed, and payment is by cash or card, more consistently than at smaller independent shops elsewhere in the prefecture. The shop is generally uncrowded outside the peak autumn harvest season, making for an easy, unhurried stop, and pairs naturally with a Kurayoshi visit that also includes the nearby Shirakabe Dozogun storehouse district.
