Arabiya Coffee has operated in the Sennichimae area near Namba since 1951, making it one of Osaka's enduring kissaten — old-school coffee shops that predate the city's modern café culture and preserve a distinctly retro atmosphere. The signature order is the classic morning set: thick-cut toast, a boiled egg, and a cup of carefully hand-dripped coffee, all offered for under ¥600, a combination that has defined Japanese kissaten breakfasts for decades. The house blend coffee is drip-brewed using traditional methods rather than espresso-based techniques, giving it a milder, more old-fashioned character than contemporary specialty coffee. The dining room is a genuine time capsule — worn wooden counters, vintage fixtures, and decor that has reportedly remained largely unchanged for decades, offering a glimpse of Osaka's pre-war and post-war coffee shop culture that has mostly disappeared elsewhere in the city. There is no wine or alcohol programme; the shop is built entirely around coffee and light breakfast fare. No reservations are needed given the casual, walk-in nature of a kissaten, though ordering the morning set before 11am is advised both for tradition and for the best value, as some kissaten switch to a standard menu after the morning hours.
