Light inside the arcade is a mix of daylight filtering through gaps in the roof panels and warm tungsten stall lighting, which creates uneven but often dramatic color-temperature contrast between shafts of daylight and the surrounding shadow; early morning, roughly between 9 and 11am, is when these daylight shafts are most defined and the market is freshest, before midday heat and crowds set in. The market operates year-round without strong seasonal variation, though it is busiest and most colorful in the days leading up to Korean and Japanese holidays such as New Year, when stalls stock extra produce and decorations. Weekday mornings offer noticeably fewer people than weekend midday hours, when the narrow arcade fills with shoppers and navigating with camera gear becomes difficult. There is no admission fee to enter or photograph the market, since it is a functioning commercial street rather than a tourist site, but a tripod is impractical in the narrow, crowded aisles and would obstruct both shoppers and vendors; handheld shooting with a lens capable of higher ISO performance is the practical choice given the mixed and often dim indoor lighting. Photographers should ask vendors before photographing their stalls directly, particularly close-up shots of a vendor's face or their specific product display, since this remains a working market for local residents rather than a staged attraction.
