Hattori Ryokuchi Forest Walk

Hattori Ryokuchi Park, a 126-hectare urban forest park in Toyonaka City, Osaka Prefecture, is reached directly from Hattori Ryokuchi Station, the northern terminus of the Osaka Metro Midosuji Line, about 35 minutes from Umeda, with no permit or special access required. The looping paths cover 2-5 km depending on the route chosen, with essentially flat terrain and no meaningful elevation gain, making this the easiest walk of the region's hiking options. Surfaces are paved or well-maintained gravel throughout, with continuous shade from the mature forest canopy and no exposed sections. The park's main landmark is the Japan Open-Air Folk House Museum, a collection of historic Japanese farmhouses relocated from across the country, which sits within the forest and charges a separate admission of around ¥500. Walkers can loop through the woodland for birdwatching and seasonal flower viewing, with map boards at the entrance helping visitors choose a route length. There are no huts or shelters needed given the short distances and proximity to the station, but toilets and vending machines are available at multiple points in the park. Water is not necessary to carry given the short walking times, though it is sensible in summer heat. The gentle, flat terrain makes Hattori Ryokuchi a popular choice for a relaxed morning outing before continuing into central Osaka.
