Hotel Scalzi

Hotel Scalzi is a three-star hotel at Via Carmelitani Scalzi 5 in the Porta Nuova area of Verona, in the Veneto region of Italy. The street takes its name from the nearby church of the Discalced Carmelites, Santa Teresa degli Scalzi, and the hotel lies about 0.9 km from the Arena di Verona and a short walk from Verona Porta Nuova railway station. This position gives guests a quieter side-street address while keeping Piazza Bra, Via Mazzini and the old town within a fifteen-minute walk. The district dates largely from the nineteenth century, and the hotel is a modest mid-range property whose strengths are its calm setting, its closeness to the station and its accessibility on foot to the main sights, including Castelvecchio, Juliet's House and Piazza delle Erbe. Rooms are standard three-star accommodation; features typical for the category include air conditioning, private bathrooms, wifi and television, and guests should confirm the current room types, family rooms and parking with the hotel. Breakfast is the usual on-site meal, while cafes, pizzerias and trattorias in the neighbourhood offer Veronese cooking such as risotto, gnocchi and pastissada de caval, with Valpolicella and Soave wines by the glass. Pool and spa facilities are not listed in the available data. Service is geared to independent leisure travellers and rail-based visitors, and reception staff can advise on Arena opera tickets, taxis and trains to Venice, Milan, Padua, Vicenza and Lake Garda. Indicative rates run from about EUR 80 to EUR 150 per night, rising during the summer opera festival, Vinitaly and the Christmas market. Reservations are made through the official website or by phone on +39 045 590422. The hotel suits visitors who prefer a quieter street close to transport without paying for a location directly on the main squares.
