Castello Banfi Il Borgo is a luxury hotel set within the restored medieval fortified village of Castello di Poggio alle Mura, deep in the Brunello di Montalcino DOCG wine zone in southern Tuscany. The Banfi estate — one of Montalcino's most prominent wine producers — spans approximately 2,800 hectares of vineyards, olive groves, woodland, and agricultural land roughly 50 km south of Siena and equidistant from the Tyrrhenian coast.

The hotel comprises 14 suites within the medieval castle itself and 14 rooms distributed across the surrounding borgo buildings, all decorated with antique furnishings, locally quarried stone, and handcrafted detailing. Rooms in the castello have original vaulted ceilings and thick stone walls; borgo rooms offer independent entrances and terraces looking over the vineyard panorama. The intimate scale — never more than 28 occupied rooms — ensures attentive, unhurried service from a dedicated team.

Dining is central to the Banfi experience. Ristorante Castello, the property's Michelin-starred restaurant, occupies a vaulted stone dining room and presents refined modern Tuscan cuisine alongside an extraordinary cellar stocked with Banfi estate wines, including multiple vintages of Brunello di Montalcino going back to the estate's founding years. The Taverna, a more relaxed alternative, offers traditional Sienese dishes and estate wines by the glass at lunch and dinner. The property's spa provides massages and vinotherapy treatments using grape-derived extracts from the estate.
