Negroni Bar

Negroni Bar occupies a spot on Via dei Renai in the Oltrarno neighbourhood of Florence, Tuscany, close to the Arno riverbank and Piazza dei Renai, and leans fully into the city's claim as birthplace of the Negroni, invented there in 1919. The room is compact and unpretentious, with a warm, convivial atmosphere that draws a mixed crowd of Florence locals, expats, and cocktail-curious travellers making a pilgrimage to try the drink where it originated; there is no dress code and the mood stays casual rather than clubby. Background music is understated, generally lounge and Italian pop played low enough for easy conversation. The entire drinks programme orbits the Negroni, with dozens of riffs on the Campari-gin-vermouth formula alongside the classic recipe, plus a handful of other Italian aperitivo staples like Spritz and Americano; cocktails run roughly €8-12 (~$9-13). Weeknights are relaxed, with space at the bar and outdoor tables through the evening; Friday and Saturday nights bring a livelier, more crowded scene, especially from 7PM onward during aperitivo hour. There is no cover charge and no bottle service, and the bar operates on a first-come basis, so reservations are not generally needed except for larger groups.
