Perched dramatically on a ridge at 531 meters above sea level, Volterra is one of Tuscany's most ancient towns with Etruscan origins dating back to the 7th century BC. The Museo Etrusco Guarnacci houses one of Italy's finest Etruscan collections with over 600 funerary urns. The town is also famous for its alabaster craftsmanship.
