Hot-Air Ballooning over the Langhe Vineyards

Hot-air ballooning over the Langhe is a passenger balloon flight at dawn above the UNESCO World Heritage vineyard landscape around Alba and Barolo in the Cuneo province of Piedmont, north-west Italy. As the burner lifts the balloon off a vineyard launch field, the rolling hills of Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto vines unfold below, stitched with hilltop villages, medieval castles such as Grinzane Cavour, and on clear mornings the long white wall of the Alps with the pyramid of Monviso to the west. Ballooning is the gentlest of air adventures and needs no experience: passengers simply step into the wicker basket and the licensed pilot does the rest, riding the dawn breeze in near silence broken only by the burner.
