Spiaggia delle Due Sorelle (Sirolo)

Spiaggia delle Due Sorelle is the most photographed beach in the Marche and the emblem of the Conero Riviera, lying in a steep-sided bay beneath Monte Conero between Portonovo and Sirolo in Ancona province. Its name, the Two Sisters, comes from a pair of pale limestone sea stacks that rise from the turquoise water just off the white-pebble shore, framed by the wooded cliff and the Passo del Lupo above. The beach has no road access whatsoever: visitors reach it by boat shuttle from the port of Numana, from Marcelli, or from San Michele beach in Sirolo, with services typically running from around 8:30 in the morning and returning by mid-afternoon. Tickets on the public shuttle boats cost roughly 30 euros (about 32 USD) for adults and around 10 euros (about 11 USD) for children aged three to ten, with under-threes free; private boat, canoe, and SUP rentals from the Urbani and San Michele beaches offer an alternative for the more adventurous. Because there are no beach clubs, bars, or sunbed concessions, the bay stays remarkably unspoiled, and access numbers are capped in peak summer to protect it. The pebbles are large and white, the seabed deep and clear, making it excellent for swimming and snorkeling but unsuitable for very young children who need shallow shelter. There is no shade once the morning sun moves overhead, so an umbrella, water, and supplies must be carried in, since nothing can be bought on site. The dramatic setting beneath the highest coastal cliff on the Adriatic, the clarity of the water, and the effort required to arrive all combine to make Due Sorelle feel like a genuine reward rather than a convenience. Spring and early autumn boat services are reduced, so the beach is busiest and most reliably served from June through early September.
