Euroma2 (EUR district)

Euroma2 is a large modern shopping mall in the EUR district of southern Rome, the planned Rationalist business and government quarter laid out under the Fascist era and now full of offices, wide boulevards and monumental architecture in this part of Lazio. More central and easier to reach than the out-of-town centres, it is a sleek enclosed mall arranged over multiple levels and known for its bold, themed design, including a striking interior dome and decorative statuary that lend it a more distinctive character than a standard high-street centre. The mall holds around 230 stores covering the familiar spread of international and Italian high-street fashion such as Zara, H&M and Mango, a Coin department store as a key anchor, plus electronics, beauty, homeware and accessory chains, alongside a large supermarket for groceries. The shopping is mainstream rather than designer or artisanal, prices are fixed retail with no bargaining, and cards are accepted everywhere alongside euro cash; non-EU visitors spending above the threshold can request tax-free paperwork at participating stores for a VAT refund on leaving Italy. The atmosphere is bright, modern and family-friendly, drawing EUR's office workers at lunchtime and busy with families and teenagers at weekends. Eating is well catered for, with an extensive food court and several cafes and restaurants offering Italian and international options, making it a comfortable all-weather stop. The stores spread across the themed concourses with the Coin department store and supermarket as the main anchors and the food court on its own level, while a large multi-storey car park and proximity to EUR's metro and bus links make it accessible by both car and public transport. For visitors it works best as a practical shopping or rainy-day option combined with a walk around EUR's distinctive landmarks such as the Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana, rather than as a substitute for the boutiques of central Rome.
