Zanhotel Regina

Zanhotel Regina is a three-star hotel at Via dell'Indipendenza 51, next door to Zanhotel Tre Vecchi on the main boulevard between Bologna Centrale railway station and the historic centre of Bologna, Emilia-Romagna. The location places guests about 700 m from Piazza Maggiore and the Basilica di San Petronio, a walk of roughly ten minutes, and a similar distance from the station. The street is lined with porticoes, shops and cafés, so the surroundings are lively by day and easy to explore on foot. The hotel is part of the Zanhotel group and offers a more economical alternative to the group's four-star properties nearby, with straightforward, practical rooms rather than luxury styling. Rooms are double and twin configurations with air conditioning and a minibar, and a lift serves the upper floors. A bar is available for drinks and light refreshments, and parking is listed, which is an important advantage on a street close to the limited-traffic zone. Pets are accepted. No restaurant, pool, spa or fitness room is listed, so most guests take breakfast at the hotel or in a nearby café and eat out at the many trattorias in the centre, where tagliatelle al ragù, tortellini in brodo and mortadella are staple dishes. Service is aimed at independent travellers, couples and budget-conscious business guests who prioritise location over amenities, with a staffed reception and multilingual support. Rates are typically €80–170 per night, lower than the four-star hotels in the same area, but they climb sharply during Fiera di Bologna trade events. The nearby station allows easy day trips to Modena, Parma, Ferrara and Ravenna, and the central position means most of Bologna's main sights can be reached without public transport. Light sleepers may wish to ask for a room facing away from the boulevard.
