Villa Cheta Elite is a Liberty-style villa built in 1911 on Via Nazionale in Acquafredda di Maratea, a small coastal locality on Basilicata's narrow Tyrrhenian shoreline, approximately 8 kilometres north of Maratea town centre. Maratea-Acquafredda railway station is within walking distance, making this one of the few luxury hotels in the area reachable by rail—the station is on the Battipaglia–Reggio Calabria line, roughly three hours from Naples and four from Rome.
The villa's original Art Nouveau architecture has been preserved across a century of continuous operation as a hotel, including the ornate facade, arched windows, decorative ironwork, and period tile floors. The interior maintains antique furniture and original artworks alongside updated comfort standards. Sea view rooms face the Tyrrhenian directly, with wide windows and small balconies; garden rooms look over the terraced botanical garden, which features rare plant species accumulated over more than a hundred years. The fine dining restaurant is one of the draws of a stay at Villa Cheta: the kitchen produces a seafood-led menu using catch from the Tyrrhenian and local Lucanian vegetables and citrus, served in the original villa dining room or on the terrace in warm weather. The wine list includes southern Italian labels and the hotel's own selections. Breakfast is included in most rates.
A pool is set in the garden, and private beach access via the villa's path allows swimming in the clear Tyrrhenian water below. There is no spa on site.
