Dunbrody Country House Hotel

Dunbrody Country House Hotel is a Georgian country manor dating from the 1830s, set on 20 acres of grounds in Arthurstown on the Hook Peninsula in County Wexford. The property was purchased and restored by television chef Kevin Dundon and his wife Catherine, who transformed it into a boutique hotel with a strong culinary identity. The Hook Peninsula position places guests on a quiet finger of land between Waterford Harbour and the Barrow estuary, approximately 12 kilometres south of New Ross and 45 kilometres from Waterford city.

The house retains its period proportions — tall sash windows, ornate cornices, and a sweeping entrance hall — while interiors have been refurbished in warm country-house style. The 22 rooms divide into Classic, Deluxe, and Junior Suite categories, each individually decorated with antique furniture and contemporary bathrooms. Many rooms overlook the manicured gardens and parkland.

The kitchen is the hotel's centrepiece. Kevin Dundon's restaurant sources produce from the hotel kitchen garden and local Wexford suppliers, emphasising seafood from the nearby Hook coast, lamb, and seasonal vegetables. The Dunbrody Cookery School runs half-day and full-day classes open to both guests and day visitors, covering Irish cuisine, bread baking, and themed seasonal menus. Afternoon tea is served in the drawing room. The grounds include formal herbaceous borders, a walled kitchen garden, and walking paths through the surrounding woodland. The property suits couples and food-focused travellers, and makes an excellent base for exploring the Hook Lighthouse — one of the oldest operational lighthouses in the world — and the historic town of New Ross.
