Torc Waterfall

Torc Waterfall is a 20-meter cascade in Killarney National Park, County Kerry, reached by a short, well-marked walk from the main road through native oak woodland. Water tumbles down a series of rock steps into a pool at the base, where a viewing platform gives an easy, close-up vantage point without any climbing required, making this one of the more accessible waterfalls in Ireland to photograph. A steeper path continues above the falls for those wanting a higher viewpoint looking down over the cascade and out toward the Killarney lakes in the distance, though this section involves stone steps and a moderate climb. The falls carry the most water, and make the strongest photographic subject, after periods of rain, when the flow is fuller and faster than during dry summer stretches. A visit to the main viewing platform takes 20 to 30 minutes from the car park; continuing to the upper viewpoint adds another 30 to 45 minutes. The site is one of Killarney National Park's most visited single stops, so midday in summer draws steady foot traffic, while early morning offers a quieter, mistier scene in the surrounding woodland.
