Bakkhali Beach, near Fraserganj in South 24 Parganas district, West Bengal, India, is a long, clean beach on the Bay of Bengal about 125 km from Kolkata. The sand is pale grey-brown and fairly firm, and the shoreline is backed by casuarina and coconut trees that give shade and a green frame to the view. The water is shallow and silty brown rather than clear, as on most of this coast, and at low tide the sea retreats far to expose a broad flat where red crabs move across the sand.

The beach is open and breezy, with moderate surf and no sheltered cove. It is regarded as a peaceful weekend retreat, quieter and less commercial than Digha, and suits families, couples and anyone seeking a slow pace. Sunrise and sunset views are a main attraction, and the long, uncrowded shore is good for walking and photography. It is not a surf or party beach. Swimming should be limited to shallow water, as currents can be strong and formal lifeguard coverage is not documented.

Amenities include hotels and tourist lodges near the shore, seafood stalls serving fried fish and snacks, and cycle rickshaws that carry visitors between the beach and the village. A watchtower near Fraserganj offers a view over the coast. Public restrooms are limited, and most visitors use their accommodation. Cash is useful because small stalls rarely accept cards.

Access from Kolkata takes about three to three and a half hours. Buses run from Esplanade to Bakkhali, and visitors can also take a train from Sealdah to Namkhana and then continue by bus or auto. Cycle rickshaws and autos cover local distances, including the short trip to Henry's Island, about 3 to 4 km away. October to March is the best period, while the monsoon and cyclone season bring rough seas and disruption.
