Costa Beach (Porto Heli area)

Costa Beach is a sandy, sheltered bay on the Ermionida coast of the northeastern Peloponnese, near the resort town of Porto Heli in Argolida, Greece, about 10 km north of Porto Heli and 90 km from Nafplio. The beach occupies a calm, south-facing bay protected by a natural headland on the western side, creating exceptionally sheltered conditions with flat, shallow water suitable for young children and less confident swimmers. The sand is pale and medium-grained, extending for roughly 400 metres along the bay's arc. Water clarity is high and the sandy, level bottom gives the shallows a characteristic pale-turquoise colour. Sun loungers, showers, and a beach taverna operate during the main season. A small harbour adjacent to the beach has boats available for hire, allowing exploration of quieter coves along the coast. The proximity to Spetses — just 10 minutes by ferry from Porto Heli — means that day-trippers from the island visit Costa and that the ferry forms a natural extension of a day's itinerary. The Ermionida area around Costa and Porto Heli is popular with the Athenian sailing community and with Greek and international visitors seeking a polished Argolid coastal experience; the overall atmosphere is relaxed and upscale rather than rowdy. Nafplio, the elegant Venetian-era former capital of Greece, is 90 km north by road and a logical cultural base for the wider region. The ancient Theatre of Epidaurus, approximately 60 km north and one of the best-preserved ancient Greek theatres in the world, pairs well as a half-day excursion from Costa. In high summer the bay can be busy on weekends when Athenians arrive; June and September offer the most relaxed conditions.
