Strandbad Rehbach, Edersee

Strandbad Rehbach lies on a quieter arm of the Edersee, just south of Bringhausen in the Hesse municipality of Edertal. The shore is sandy with a gentle, even slope into the water, and the reservoir here is generally clear, though visibility depends on the season and recent rainfall in the Eder catchment. The beach is a modest, open stretch rather than an enclosed cove, facing across the water toward the forested slopes of the Kellerwald-Edersee National Park; it sees little wind exposure thanks to the surrounding hills, so the water usually stays calm. Compared with the larger Strandbad Bringhausen a short distance away, Rehbach draws a noticeably smaller, more local crowd, making it a good choice for visitors who want a family swim without the busier atmosphere of the main lido. Amenities are simple: changing rooms, a kiosk for drinks and snacks, and boat hire, but no lifeguard service and no dedicated sun-lounger rental, so visitors bring their own towels and chairs onto the sand or adjoining grass. As with the rest of the Edersee, the beach width and water level shift with the reservoir's seasonal management, generally widest in high summer once the lake has refilled from the spring drawdown. There is no supermarket or large restaurant directly on site, so visitors planning a full day usually stock up in Bad Wildungen or Korbach beforehand. Access is by regional train to Bad Wildungen or Korbach and then a local bus toward Rehbach and Bringhausen, or by car along the lakeside road, with informal parking near the beach; the Edersee round-lake cycle path also passes directly by.
