Kletterpark Edersee Climbing Park, Hemfurth

Kletterpark Edersee is a high-ropes climbing park on the wooded hillside above the Edersee reservoir at Hemfurth in northern Hesse, offering six rope courses with 42 individual climbing stations at heights ranging from 1m to 15m. The range of course heights makes the park suitable for both young children on the lowest circuits and experienced climbers on the higher courses, with the operator setting minimum height requirements for the taller routes; a low starter course lets younger children climb close to the ground under adult supervision. A climbing harness, helmet, and safety carabiners are included with the entry ticket, and closed-toe shoes are required; long hair should be tied back before the helmet is fitted. Before climbing, park staff run a mandatory safety briefing covering the continuous belay system, in which participants keep their carabiners clipped to the safety cable throughout the course, and staff remain on the ground to supervise and assist. The elevated position above the Edersee gives climbers views over the reservoir between platforms, one of the park's distinguishing features compared with other Hesse climbing parks set entirely within forest. The park operates April to October, with the driest conditions and most reliable opening hours from May to September; courses close during rain, thunderstorms, or high wind, since wet ropes and platforms become slippery and unsafe. Visitors can combine a climbing session with the nearby Baumwipfelpfad treetop walkway and the Edersee dam, both a short walk away in Hemfurth.
