Hagelberg Circuit, Naturpark Hoher Fläming

The Hagelberg circuit climbs to the summit of the Hagelberg, at 200 metres above sea level the highest natural point in Brandenburg, within the rolling moraine hills of the Hoher Fläming Nature Park south of Potsdam. The route starts from a small car park in Hagelberg village, reachable by road from Bad Belzig, and covers about 8 km with a modest 90 m of elevation gain, rated Easy (T1) and requiring no special equipment beyond ordinary walking shoes. The path alternates between shaded beech forest and open farmland, and while the elevation gain is modest by any standard outside Brandenburg, the summit clearing offers views that feel unusually long for the state, extending over the patchwork of fields and forest typical of the Fläming. The nature park has been designated the Sternenpark Hoher Fläming, one of Germany's certified dark-sky reserves, and the Hagelberg area is a popular spot for stargazing after dark given the almost complete absence of artificial light. There are no huts or water sources directly on the trail, so hikers should carry their own supplies, though Hagelberg village and nearby Bad Belzig have cafes and shops for before or after the walk. The circular nature of the route means there is no meaningful turn-around decision; hikers can shorten the loop by cutting back through the farmland tracks at any point if needed.
