The Colline du Chateau is a wooded hill of roughly 90 metres rising between Vieux Nice and Port Lympia on the French Riviera, and its terraces give the classic elevated view of Nice. The main belvedere near the Tour Bellanda looks west across the rooftops of Vieux Nice, the curve of the Baie des Anges and the line of the Promenade des Anglais toward the airport headland, with the Alps often visible behind on clear days.

A second set of viewpoints on the east side looks down on the orange and ochre buildings of Port Lympia and the ferries and yachts moored there. Because the main frame faces west and south-west, the strongest light arrives in the late afternoon, when the sun drops behind the bay and side-lights the facades. Sunset itself falls over the western end of the bay, and the sky colours reflect in the water for about twenty minutes afterwards. The clearest air usually comes between October and April, after a mistral or a rainy front has cleared summer haze; thin high cloud can add colour at dusk. Midday light from late spring to early autumn flattens the view and produces haze over the sea. The park is free to enter and is reached by the free lift beside the Tour Bellanda or by stairs from Quai des Etats-Unis and Montee Lesage. Sunset is the busiest period, and the main terrace near the waterfall and the tower can hold dozens of people; arriving 45 minutes early secures a spot at the parapet. Tripods are tolerated for personal photography when they do not block the paths, though the narrow terraces make a compact model more practical. Drone use over central Nice is subject to French restrictions and normally needs prior authorisation, so it should not be assumed to be allowed. Park hours change with the season, and in winter closing at 18:00 can fall before blue hour, so the schedule matters when planning. Water and restrooms are available inside the park near the cafe and playground area.
