Hôtel Windsor

Hôtel Windsor is a three-star garden hotel at 11 Rue Dalpozzo in Nice's Carré d'Or district, a few minutes' walk from the Promenade des Anglais and the beach in France's Alpes-Maritimes. It is best known for its rooms decorated by contemporary artists and for a tropical garden with an outdoor pool, features that make it one of the more distinctive mid-range stays in the city. The location is convenient: Place Masséna, the Jardin Albert I, the Rue de France shopping area and the tram are all within a short walk, and Nice-Ville railway station is close enough to reach on foot or by a brief tram ride. Nice Côte d'Azur Airport is about 6 kilometres west. The building is a traditional Riviera townhouse whose interior has been given a creative identity through the work of artists, so rooms differ from one another rather than following a single corporate template. Room categories include Double rooms, Artist rooms, Superior rooms and Junior Suites, and guests who want a particular artwork or theme can ask for a specific room when booking. The garden is a central feature, with palms and exotic plants surrounding the outdoor pool, and it offers a quiet retreat from the city streets. Additional facilities include a sauna, a restaurant and a bar, and wifi is available throughout. Service is informal and suited to leisure couples, creative travellers and visitors on short stays who value character over a seafront view. Rates are moderate for Nice, roughly EUR 110-250 per night, with higher prices in summer and during the Carnival and festival periods. Because the hotel stands a few streets inland, street noise is usually lower than at the promenade hotels, and the district has many restaurants and bakeries. From here visitors can walk to the old town and Cours Saleya in about twenty minutes, and use the train for day trips to Monaco, Antibes, Cannes and Menton.
