Jardin Maore

Jardin Maore sits directly on N'Gouja beach in Kani-Keli, a village at the southern tip of Grande-Terre roughly 30 kilometres from Mamoudzou's barge terminal. N'Gouja is widely regarded as Mayotte's finest sheltered cove, where green sea turtles come ashore to feed on seagrass beds directly in front of the property. The eco-lodge follows a low-rise bungalow model: units are shaded by mature palms and breadfruit trees, with open-air verandas facing either the lagoon or the garden. Sea-view bungalows are positioned closest to the water and offer unobstructed sightlines to the coral barrier reef at low tide, while garden-facing rooms trade the view for greater quiet at night. Interiors use local hardwood fittings and woven wall panels alongside air-conditioned comfort. The on-site restaurant serves Mahorais and Creole dishes — grilled wahoo, coconut-braised chicken, and lobster when in season — alongside a tropical fruit spread at breakfast. No spa is on the premises, but snorkeling equipment is available for rent and the beach itself is the principal attraction: turtle-observation zones begin roughly 50 metres offshore. Kayaks and paddleboards are hireable from local operators who set up each morning on the sand. Staff can arrange guided snorkeling sessions with the turtles, boat excursions to the southern islets of Mbouzi and Saziley, and car hire for inland day trips. The atmosphere is relaxed and family-friendly; the property particularly suits divers and naturalists spending multiple nights in the south of the island.
