Melody Nelson is a creative cocktail bar housed in a narrow 18th-century building at 4 Rue Saint-Thomas in the historic centre of Rennes, Brittany. Named after the celebrated 1971 Serge Gainsbourg album, the venue channels a steampunk-rock aesthetic: exposed copper pipework runs across the ceiling, velvet banquettes line the walls alongside framed vinyl sleeves, and low amber lighting creates an intimate rather than frenetic atmosphere. The drinks programme centres on inventive cocktails built around rare and artisanal spirits — aged agricole rum, small-batch mezcal, Japanese single malt whisky, and obscure European digestifs feature regularly alongside in-house syrups prepared from seasonal local ingredients and fresh-pressed citrus. Breton craft beers from regional producers including Brasserie Lancelot and Brasserie de Bretagne appear on tap and in bottles, supplemented by a concise natural wine selection.
