Auberge de Jeunesse Lyon Centre (HI) is a Hostelling International youth hostel at 41-45 Montée du Chemin Neuf in the 5th arrondissement of Lyon, France, on the steep hillside above Vieux Lyon in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. The Vieux Lyon and Fourvière district lies on the west bank of the Saône and is a UNESCO World Heritage area, famed for its Renaissance townhouses, covered passageways called traboules, the Cathédrale Saint-Jean and the Fourvière basilica that crowns the hill. The Montée du Chemin Neuf is a steep lane that climbs the slope, so the hostel enjoys hillside views but requires an uphill walk from the river, and the Minimes-Théâtres Romains and Saint-Jean areas, with the Fourvière funicular and the Roman theatres, are close. Place Bellecour is reachable across the Saône by footbridge and metro in around fifteen to twenty minutes.
