A uniquely personal museum of objects donated by people around the world to symbolise the end of a relationship, each with a short story.
Born as a travelling art exhibition by Olinka Vištica and Dražen Grubišić after their own break-up, the Museum of Broken Relationships opened permanently in Zagreb in 2010 and won the Kenneth Hudson Award for most innovative museum in Europe. Exhibits range from garden gnomes to wedding dresses, each with a handwritten caption. It is in the Upper Town in the Kulmer Palace. The collection includes many donated items from Croatia and abroad. A cafe and shop sit in the building.
