The building is a restored Venetian-era townhouse, and the hotel takes its name from Auguste de Marmont, the French marshal who governed Dalmatia under Napoleon in the early nineteenth century. Stone walls, exposed timber beams, and arched doorways characterise the lower levels, while the upper floors have been fitted with contemporary fixtures that retain the structural character of the original building. The overall atmosphere is intimate: the small number of rooms means service is highly attentive and personalised.
